He has been in college administration since 1992 serving in leadership positions at Southern Methodist University, the University of Arkansas, Temple University, and the University of Florida. Prior to joining USC Dr. Carry served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Auburn University.

Dr. Carry is recognized nationally for his work in translating corporate leadership and management practices to smarter organizational performance in education. His focus for the Division of Student Affairs is to position the Division as a national leader in supporting students. The Division has more than 300 employees in 20 departments focused on student development. His primary goals include (1) student support and advocacy, (2) promoting students involvement, and (3) creating educational experiences outside the classroom. Enhancing the student experience stands among Carry’s top priorities, “We want to create a student experience that is unlike anywhere else in the world. The weather, the sports, the academics, the diversity, there is no reason why we can’t be the best place in the world to go to school.”

In addition to creating an unparalleled student experience, Carry’s most important mission is making USC the healthiest campus in America – “We have the expertise and passion to help students build their physical and mental health. We should do everything in our power to create safe environments and send clear messages to students about the shared responsibility of taking care of themselves and others.”

Dr. Carry is a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned his Ed. D. in Higher Education, M.S. in Counselor Education, and a B.S. in Food and Resource Economics. He also holds an MBA from Auburn University.
