USC International Artist Fellowship Program (IAF)

Message to Academic Deans, Faculty and Staff

From: Michael W. Quick, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

October 2, 2018

The USC Strategic Plan: Answering the Call highlights the prominence of the arts at our university, with six world-class arts schools, two museums, and the Visions and Voices program, each of which nourishes and is nourished by the global metropolis of Los Angeles. It makes the case that “The arts and humanities are more salient than ever as we strive for greater cross-cultural awareness and mutual understanding.” In pursuit of this objective, the International Artist Fellowship program brings together talented young artists from across the Pacific Rim, South Asia, Latin American and beyond, celebrating diverse viewpoints and artistic exchange, and strengthening the university’s commitment to access, opportunity, equity, and inclusion.

Since its inception, the International Artist Fellowship program has welcomed 19 young artists from Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Korea, and Thailand. They have come to USC to complete their terminal arts degree with USC’s outstanding arts faculty.

Today, I am delighted to introduce you to the 2018-2019 class of International Artist Fellows. Attached are brief sketches of our nine current artist fellows and their work.

I hope you will have a chance to meet these remarkable young artists and welcome them to Los Angeles and to the Trojan Family.
