Andrew McConnell Stott to Serve as Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Dean of the Graduate School

Message to the USC Community

From: Charles F. Zukoski, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

I am pleased to announce that we have appointed Andrew Stott to the new position of Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Dean of the Graduate School, effective November 16, 2020.

President Folt and I examined the structure of our education programs, and we realized the creative potential of this new position that oversees both the Graduate School and Undergraduate Programs. The Vice Provost is charged with advancing the excellence of both units and guiding them into the future. Professor Stott will report to me and will work closely with Executive Vice Provost Elizabeth Graddy, as well as deans, faculty, staff, and students across the university.

Professor Stott is currently the College Dean of Undergraduate Education and Academic Affairs in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, where his leadership has honed Dornsife’s undergraduate programs to best instruct and support our students as they graduate to shape our dynamic century. He is deeply respected by faculty, staff, and students for his teaching, mentoring, and service across USC. He is Professor of English, the author of four widely-acclaimed books, and the recipient of multiple fellowships. Professor Stott joined USC in 2017 from the University at Buffalo where he was Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education and where we worked together.

I want to thank the faculty and staff of the Graduate School and Undergraduate Programs for their flexibility and ongoing work. We look forward to expanding the outstanding educational experiences and academic support that we provide for all of our students.
