Message to the USC Community
From: Michael W. Quick, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
March 29, 2019
On behalf of President Austin, I am writing to inform you that Dr. Monique S. Allard, Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Student Engagement, has agreed to serve as interim Vice President for Student Affairs, effective April 1, 2019.
Dr. Allard has more than 20 years of experience in student support programs and services, and is deeply engaged with our student body. She currently oversees Campus Activities, the Student Equity and Inclusion Programs (CBCSA, APASS, El Centro Chicano, LGBT Resource Center, Veterans Resource Center), Fraternity and Sorority Leadership Development, the Office of International Services, Residential Education, Student Publications and the Trojan Marching Band.
Dr. Allard has a long history with USC. She earned her master’s and doctorate from the USC Rossier School of Education, where she currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor, and she served as the associate director of college advising in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences from 2000-2007.
Outside of USC, she has worked in student affairs across southern California, having previously served as the Director of Student Services for the College of Education at Cal State L.A., as well as the Executive Director of Student Support and Equity Programs at Cal Poly Pomona. She has spent her career working to heighten the student experience.
During this critical time for our university, Dr. Allard will work closely with the president and me to make sure the USC student experience is our foremost priority. We will work together to keep providing rich, engaging opportunities for our students to develop holistically, including opportunities to connect with others, build professional networks, and develop personal, practical, and leadership skills.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Allard for taking on this vital role.
