Dear School of Cinematic Arts Community,
On behalf of President Kim, I am pleased to announce that Elizabeth Daley has been reappointed Dean of USC School of Cinematic Arts. We look forward to continuing to work with Dean Daley, who has capably led SCA since 1991, and supporting her visionary leadership both at SCA and across USC.
This decision followed a comprehensive review process that engaged multiple constituents in the School of Cinematic Arts who provided thoughtful and productive feedback on Dean Daley’s leadership and accomplishments. Dean Daley was praised for her fundraising and for her efforts to establish strong relationships within USC and externally. The dean review committee provided a meaningful summary of SCA’s feedback on their dean, noting that “all divisions expressed reverence for her historic run as the entrusted dean who forged SCA into the powerhouse it is today, expanding the school into contemporary fields of film and television production such as animation, gaming, themed entertainment, virtual production, and AI. SCA is definitively at the forefront of emerging technology thanks to Dean Daley.”
I want to thank the School of Cinematic Arts dean review committee, chaired by Professor Keith Mayerson, USC Roski School of Art and Design; and staffed by Gordon Bellamy, Professor of the Practice of Cinematic Arts, Interactive Media & Games; Claudia Gonzalez, SCA Director of Operations; Kara Keeling, Professor of Cinema and Media Studies and American Studies and Ethnicity; Thomas Pringle, Assistant Professor of Cinema and Media Studies; Kierstyn Salinas, Computer Services Consultant II; John Watson, Professor, Dana and Albert “Cubby” Broccoli Endowed Chair in Producing; and Holly Willis, Professor of Cinematic Arts for their service and dedication to this process. The review committee compiled a thorough and balanced analysis that resulted in a glowing recommendation for reappointment.
Please join me in thanking Dean Daley for her continued service. We are grateful for her continued dedication and leadership.
Sincerely,
Andrew T. Guzman
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
