Wildfires in Los Angeles County

Message to the USC Community

From: Michael W. Quick, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; Todd Dickey, Senior Vice President for Administration

December 6, 2017

We have been closely monitoring the situation this morning regarding the wildfires in Los Angeles County and other parts of southern California.  Like all Angelenos, we recognize and understand the considerable anxiety caused by these unpredictable and quickly-developing events.  Some members of our USC community have already been affected by this disaster, and our thoughts are with them and their families.

We urge everyone to follow public safety instructions and exercise caution when traveling near fire zones.  As such, please be mindful that some faculty, staff, and students will experience delays in arriving to campus.

As there are many Trojans in and around Los Angeles, it is likely that more will be impacted.  Please reach out to us if you know anyone in our community who needs help.  Students can contact Student Counseling Services at (213) 740-7711 or the Eric Cohen Student Health Center at (323) 442-5631.  For faculty and staff assistance, please contact the Center for Work & Family Life at (213) 821-0800.  If any students are impacted directly, please contact the USC Support and Advocacy team at (213) 821-4710.
