Dear Faculty Colleagues,
At the end of next week, the NRLB will mail an election ballot to your home. This is your one opportunity to make your voice heard. The outcome of this vote will determine whether the United Auto Workers is chosen as the exclusive bargaining representative for all RTPC faculty—full-time, part-time, and adjunct — across 22 schools, the Libraries, and hundreds of disciplines, all under a single contract.
We know how important this decision is, to you and to us. We and the university value our collaboration with you every day, and recognize the significance and long-term impact of this decision. You deserve to have the information you need to cast an informed vote. For that reason, we invite you to join any of the informational webinars next week:
- Tuesday, April 21 @ 2:30pm – 3:30pm
- Wednesday, April 22 @ 3:00pm – 4:00pm
- Thursday, April 23 @ 4:00pm – 5:00pm
These webinars will cover the most fundamental elements of unionization:
- What it means to be in a bargaining unit, including paying union dues;
- How representation may impact your appointment, contract, or individual arrangement with the university; and
- How a union may limit your participation in shared governance.
Registration to receive the weblink is required to ensure attendance is limited to USC faculty; however, your participation will remain anonymous. Only panelists will be visible. Anonymous questions are welcome via the linked Qualtrics survey and will be addressed during the webinars.
Whether you have already attended sessions hosted by your school or the United Auto Workers representatives, we encourage you to join us as you continue your research about what United Auto Workers representation could mean and the impacts it may have on your future with USC.
Sincerely,
