Faculty Hiring Workshops

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce a new resource to support ongoing efforts within each school to diversify their faculty.

On October 3rd and November 1st from 10:00 to11:30 am at the University Park and Health Sciences Campuses, respectively, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion will present an interactive ninety-minute workshop on Strategic Faculty Hiring. These workshops will provide tactics that can be used at every stage of the search process to boost the likelihood of generating excellent and diverse candidate slates, tips for retaining a diverse faculty member upon their arrival, and opportunities for engagement and growth with your peers across the university.

The workshops are open to all faculty members. Because the concepts shared during these workshops are applicable throughout the search process, we especially encourage faculty members on search committees to attend. Within a few days of this email, our Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer, Christopher Manning, will provide more details regarding the registration process.

In addition to the Strategic Faculty Hiring workshops, we are pleased to make you aware of two assets forthcoming this semester to further assist your efforts: an online reference entitled Enhancing Faculty Excellence and the availability of customizable unit-level workshops on avoiding implicit bias in faculty hiring, both from the Office of Inclusion and Diversity. More information on accessing these assets will be shared as they become available. In the meantime, we urge you to take advantage of the Strategic Faculty Hiring workshops.

Sincerely,
