Dear Marshall School Community,
On behalf of President Folt and myself, I am pleased to announce that Geoffrey Garrett has been reappointed Dean of USC Marshall School of Business. We look forward to continuing to work with Dean Garrett and support his leadership at Marshall and at USC.
This decision followed a comprehensive review process that produced thoughtful and important input. Dean Garrett was praised for his emphasis on making Marshall a comprehensive and cutting-edge business school, his communication and charisma toward the Marshall community, and his ability to cultivate strong relationships within USC and externally. During his deanship, Marshall has created innovative joint undergraduate degrees with other schools at the University, including AI for Business (with Viterbi) and the Business of Cinematic Arts (with Cinematic Arts) and developed new initiatives in digital assets, energy, real estate, risk and supply chains. His vision for the future of Marshall includes launching innovative teaching and research programs on the business of advanced technologies, enhancing the graduate education business model, strengthening the overall culture of the college, and using his forward-thinking leadership to advance Marshall into the future as a top-tier comprehensive business school.
I want to thank the Marshall dean review committee, chaired by University Professor Mark S. Humayun, for their service and dedication to this process. The review committee compiled a thorough and balanced analysis that was based on a survey, listening sessions, and feedback from faculty, staff, and students along with the Board of Councilors.
Please join us in thanking Dean Garrett for his continued service. We are grateful for his leadership.
Sincerely,
Andrew T. Guzman
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
