Chief of Staff to the Provost / Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs
Jan Roselle is Chief of Staff to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Southern California. She serves as a senior advisor and operational partner to the Provost, providing leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of the Provost’s Office and helping address complex issues that require coordination across Academic Affairs. She works closely with schools, academic units, and university partners to resolve operational challenges, advance Provost priorities, and ensure appropriate follow-through. Her portfolio also includes leadership searches and reviews, organizational planning and transitions, executive communications, coordination of Academic Affairs matters before the Board of Trustees, and other special initiatives.
Before joining USC, Roselle served as Chief of Staff and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Pomona College, where she advised the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College on governance, strategic planning, budgeting, accreditation, faculty affairs, and institutional policy.
Roselle holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a PhD in English from the University of California, Riverside. At UCR, she served as a lecturer in literature and composition-rhetoric, Director of the Graduate Writing Center, and Director of Research Strategies in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
