Chief of Staff to the Provost / Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs

Jan Roselle is Chief of Staff to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Southern California. In this role, she serves as a senior advisor to the Provost, advancing strategic priorities and key institutional initiatives while ensuring alignment with USC’s core academic mission. She provides leadership and operational direction for the Office of the Provost and supports coordination and implementation across the schools and academic units reporting to the Provost, working in close collaboration with partners across the university.
Prior to joining USC, she served as the Chief of Staff and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Pomona College, where she supported shared governance and led academic policy and process administration, including tenure and promotion.
Roselle holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a PhD in English from the University of California, Riverside. At UCR, she served as Lecturer in literature and composition-rhetoric, Director of the Graduate Writing Center, and Director of Research Strategies at the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
